Counting the Vote: the Process, the People, and the Electoral College

Central Library, Boston Public Library

Copley Square, Boston, MA

Recent elections have been plagued by allegations of voter fraud and growing distrust. Everyone has questions about our electoral process: Is it fair? Is it safe? Can it be improved?

Artist and former election lawyer Eve Jacobs-Carnahan will give a nonpartisan presentation and lead a discussion about the electoral system. You’ll learn what’s involved in counting ballots, how voting by mail varies widely across the country, what a real election audit looks like, and what alternatives exist to the electoral college.

What to bring:

Tools and yarn will be provided at the circle or bring your own.

Yarn: brick red worsted weight yarn; cream colored DK yarn

Needles: size US 7 or 8 needles or size I-9 to K-10 1/2 crochet hook

Non-knitters welcome too!

The main point is to learn how democracy works so you can make it stronger.
